Dia De Muertos: Soap

Sugar skulls and bright colors is what I tend to associate with Dia De Muertos and that is what inspired this soap. Using black as the main color, neon green, pink, and purple were poured in random spots in between pouring the black. The colors were then used on top, swirled, and sprinkled with gold mica. Melt and pour sugar skulls were created, some using the neon micas and some using white. The white ones were dusted with gold mica. Black mica was mixed with a little bit of water to create a paint for the eyes and nose on the white skulls. Tricks or Treats was used for the fragrance.

This was a fun one when it came to making the sugar skulls. Using silicone molds that I got off of Amazon, the melt and pour soap worked well and made it easy to create these embeds.

This was another soap where I blended it for too long and the soap started to accelerate too quickly. The pour was very thick and I had to scoop the soap out of the containers. I still like how it turned out, it just wasn't quite what I wanted. Lessons have been learned!!
