Bonfire and Dance: Meditation

Bonfire and Dance is inspired by the Gaelic Festival of Samhian, which begins on October 31st. The festival marks the end of the harvest and is the start of the darker months. The ancient Celts believed that the veil or door between the worlds was open, allowing spirits, fairies, or ghosts of loved ones to pass through to our side. Bonfires are traditionally light, some say to help appease those that pass through the doors. This meditation focuses on the bonfires while using music and dance to light the bonfire.

What to use this meditation for: To help ignite a spark in you. Some people find fires calming, but add a little music and dancing to it can bring about a different feeling, one full of energy and inspiration. Fires are also a great symbol of burning away the negatives allowing more positive feelings and thoughts to burn bright.

Some imaginative elements: Give the meditation your own personal touch. Here's a few questions to get your imagination flowing.

What is the first instrument you hear?

What other instruments join the first one?

What song is being played?

Do you dance in one spot or do you circle the fire?

This is a magical fire, what color is it?

Check back on Friday to see the videos for the meditation and check on Monday to see the soap I made to go along with this meditation.
